BIOFUELS | Biomass Solid Fuels

Indeck Energy has significant experience in developing, permitting and managing biofuels facilities. We currently hold investments in over a dozen ethanol plants and one biodiesel plant, with a total production in excess of a billion gallons of biofuels.

Indeck Energy has entered the biomass solid fuels market with multiple developments across North America. Biomass solid fuels consist of aggregating raw biomass consisting of forest, mill or agricultural residues and processing such feedstocks into consistent quality solid fuels in the form of pellets or briquettes. Biomass solid fuels can be used for residential, commercial and industrial heating, as well as industrial and utility scale coal boiler cofiring.

Biomass solid fuels are an environmental and economic opportunity leading to energy independence. The primary environmental benefit of burning biomass solid fuels is that they do not contribute to climate changes through emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases. Biomass solid fuels are economically competitive with fuel oil, natural gas and propane. In addition, jobs are created at the biomass solid fuel plant as well as the “ring” economy of biomass harvesting.
